nice! hey did i hear they released a 460 x2?
Wow never heard of that! Google found this, Zotac GTX 460x2 (http://www.nordichardware.com/news/71-graphics/41534-zotac-building-geforce-gtx-460x2-graphics-card.html).
http://www.nordichardware.com/images/labswedish/nyhetsartiklar/Grafik/zotac.gtx460/fullimages/zotac_gtx460x2_02.jpg
Yeah that would be so nice to have SLI 460 on one card. It's a very good card in SLI anyways. I only purchased the 768mb versions, the 460x2 comes with 2gb.
yeah 6 cores make a difference. both are still great. looking forward to the next gen 6 and 8 cores from intel
6 cores makes a difference. It'll be a while before I upgrade to the next gen as this rig will keep me happy for years.

Well there's your problem, the words before "pause" appear to be some sort of garbled mess, so the stream is obviously corrupted for you...
:D
It isn't working becuase the freaking event hasn't started yet. Wow....

yeah whats the real difference between magnesium and aluminum?
Strenght to weight ratio. magnesium is stronger for it's weight. It is also more expensive put even if the stuff goes up to $100 per pound it taks so little magnesium to make an iPod cost of the metal would matter little. It might even be cheaper pound for pound than the plastic they use now.
magnesium will burn in air and the fire is very hard to put out. It will even continue to burn if you toss it into a bucket of water. But the fire is hard to start you would need to leave it exposed a flame from a gas stove or tortch for some time, a match or lighter would not do it. I would assume the plastic nano would burn too if exposed to a blow tortch.
It is actually pretty hard to start a big chunk of magnesium burnning. The metal conducts heat so well that as you put the flame to one end the heat conducts to the other end and radiates away into the air. The stuff that does burn are the "chips" on a machine shop floor. And of course the magnesium powder they use in fireworks. But they will not make iPods with small flakes of metal

Personally, I wish they would have just made the old one smaller...I think the old one being like a jump drive/mp3 player was pretty handy. Really besides the size and shape there is nothing new here...Too bad.
Same... I'm glad I have my little flash/mp3 player. I've used it many many times allready. Because I allways have my shufflewith me, and draging around a little dock thing isn't really handy to me.
Kinda sucks they took away the 512 model, scrolling through 200+ songs doesn't sound like it would be fun. I get annoyed with my 512 sometimes(though I absolutely love it deerly) scrolling. I will be buying the new nano just for podcasts i think.

oh ok. so you will primary fold with just 4 systems, or 5?
right now i have 4 primary systems that i'm folding with, and i would love to build another, but not right now with the heat. maybe when it gets colder. sometimes i wish i had a basement to put them!
just so you know, you can fold with a 200 series and 400 series gpu in the same system. it took a little for me to get it to work, but it does.
let us know when you start building another rig. and how the overclock is coming!
I'll still use the mac pro so that would be 5 systems.
Heat is a problem for me too so the overclocking will have to wait a while and a new build will have to wait a couple of months.

Why don't they ust have the video for download????
I think we use more bandwidth trying, and trying, to see it, then if I could just spend 30 min downloding it.
pluss these would be great to show friends / fam with slow internet connections

I think none the white (plastic) macbook ever supports 8GB of RAM...
The mid 2009 white MacBook has the same chipset as the late 2008 aluminum MacBook. Aside from Apple restricting the mid 2009 white MacBook via intentionally crippling firmware, why wouldn't it be able to support 8 GB RAM?

I think Apple blew it with the new iPod Shuffle. They should have kept the old form factor but put in a small LCD display to show song titles and elapsed time.
That's what the nano is for...

Xserve lags so far behind the Mac Pro in release, costs much more, has little to make it better and just as much to make it worse. I would love to have an Xserve, but I don't understand why anyone would buy one.
I believe, for a server, it offers much more. I think it has redundant power supplies, lights-out operation and includes Mac OS X server. Since you obviously don't need those things (since you see no value in them) I don't know why you would want one.

This could work with the 3ds tech, the front facing camera would recognize that you are moving your head and the 3ds would turn off the stereoscopic 3d while you move it. Once you stop moving your head the stereoscopic 3d is activated again and so on.

Cingular is not the only GSM carrier in the USA.
T-Mobile is pretty big too. They have just purchased a ton of bandwidth for new high-speed services.
Remember the T-Mobile CEO saying "we have a similar vision as Apple" ?
That's why Cingular went with Microsoft, they know they didn't win over Apple. So, this is most likely going to be a T-Mobile partnership (whose corporate parent has a HUGE presence in Europe).
TMobile is actually pretty small when compared with the top 3:
Cingular
Verizon
Sprint/Nextel
The top 3 comprise 78% of cell phones in the country.
I doubt the comments from the TMobile CEO had much to do with the decision.
Cingular is currently is the only major carrier that does not have an MVNO based on it's lines. (As far as I know)
Verizon has Alltel & Virgin Mobile
Sprint has Virgin Mobile, some TraCphone & other prepaid offerings
AT&T wireless used to have SunCom as an MVNO, but when they merged with Cingular they went independent - putting up their own towers and leasing some towers from Cingular.
It's my opinion that Apple will be a Cingular based MVNO and that the phone will work on TMobile and SunCom - but just won't be supported - just like Cingular phones are now. IE - I can buy a TMobile Sidekick on eBay and use it on Cingular, I just don't have the same plan or all features available to me.
The only alliance that I see Apple may have with T-Mobile is that Danger - which makes the semi-exclusive T-Mobile SideKick has Steve Wozniak as an investor.
Now, you can look at that coincidence from two angles:
1) It's just something Woz saw promise in
2) He's been there (at Danger) as a technology partner/development partner for Danger all along to be able to assist Apple first hand with their own Phone efforts. A plant, if you will.
Personally, I see the iPhone as being something very very similar to a Sidekick ... but better.

The iTunes Music Store currently doesn't offer any full-length movies for purchase/download, with minor exceptions to some full-length content available via ShowTime.
I thought iTunes had HSM and Fallen as movies. Maybe they don't count but, they are, kind of.

Maybe the 7 inch version is coming.... The iPad Slate..... :-)
I wouldn't dismiss this rumor completely, albeit the likelihood of it actually happening seems very slim. On the other hand, I remember in the months leading up to the iPad launch :apple: had secured trademark rights for the words "iPad" and "Slate" by way of two different "shell" companies. Does anyone remember that? Yes, we obviously know that one of those trademarks is currently in use and it's very likely there aren't any plans to use the other (Slate) trademark at all. Given :apple: have yet to use it, it's feasible that said trademark could be used in conjunction with the iPod namesake and thus we could see an "iPod Slate" this fall. That could be the rumored iPad 3 in smaller form factor (bigger than iPod Touch yet smaller than iPad). Just a hunch.

He was the Interim CEO of Apple when he took back the helm... so he dubbed all his projects i-Projects... Interim.

And here I thought Jon was smart and would find out the details of this story before "reporting" it.
Funny segment, disappointed in lack of research.
He seemed to have several details wrong and omitted others altogether. Interesting that he chose to sacrifice some facts in preference for commentary that resonates less if you have followed the story closely.
Few seem to understand the potential impact to Apple's business that relies on some level of secrecy to innovate on the scale they do.

Did you have any problems with the time not being visible or any other "side effects". I remember downloading and trying this with Nocturne but it wasn't as easy or effective as I had hoped. Was it easy? Anyone else have experience with Nocturne?
1. I love this. Do you have the original?
2. What font is your geektool (network) data?
Here (http://www.sdays.kr/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/ThinkDifferent.jpg)'s the wallpaper I just center it and use black to fill in the rest and the font is Consolas.
