Part One rumors consisted of the PowerMac and G5 combination, Part Two concerns the iMac, eMac, and laptops.
Since the general concensus is that Altivec (in some form or another) is coming to IBM processors in a lite version of the Power4, but what stops IBM from putting these vector instructions into the 750FX--IBMs flagship PowerPC processor at the moment.
An enhanced version of the 750FX, or 750FXe (as I've already posted one time before) would be a great fit for the iBook, the PowerBook, the iMac, the eMac, and maybe even the classic iMac--if they do not discontinue it.
So, here are prospects for use of the 750FXe:
iMac:
- 1GHz G4
- 166MHz system bus
- PC2700 DDR memory
eMac:
- 1GHz G4
- 133MHz system bus
- PC2100 DDR memory
iBook
- 800MHz G4
- 133Mhz system bus
- PC2100 DDR memory
PowerBook
- 1GHz G4
- 166MHz system bus
- PC2700 DDR memory
But, here's the great part of this entire thing. All of these computers would use the same exact processor, with the iBook receiving an underclocked 1GHz 750FXe. This helps Apple buy in bulk and thus lower the price of their purchases, which could lead to more inexpensive eMacs, etc. The other fact, is that the use of DDR across the board also means cheaper memory (or at least from Apple's standpoint, they'll probably still charge us an arm and a leg).
One a note on the DDR memory, the 750FX fully supports DDR memory, so the 750FXe would likely do the same. Some might question the use of crippled DDR in the PowerMacs and a full implementation of DDR memory in the consumer and laptop products, but a better PowerMac using the 7470 G4 from Motorola or a G5 from IBM is likely on its way soon.

If he's using pdflatex, he shouldn't be specifying \usepackage{graphicsx} in the first place...

Thank you for the instructions. I'm a TW customer and was trying to do this with my account. Has anyone been able to get this to work on TW? What is the purpose of inserting the domain information? Since I'm on TW I used the domain and signup information for my TW account but wasn't sure if that was what you used for just made up your own login for the VPN.
i was able to pull up the channel screen, however, I can only get a couple of non-HD channel stream for about 5 secs. The app then tries to load again and eventually crashes. This was on 3g and I have not had the opportunity to try it on an external WiFi network. I'm not sure if this had to do with 3g or the upload speed from my home network. It would be great if it could stream on 3g. I checked the upload speed on my home network and I'm only getting about .50 Mbps. I'm not sure if that is sufficient to stream over 3g.

I have a 4th Gen iPod Touch and I used Green Poison AND Limera1n, both of which says the jailbreak was successful but no icons were installed for me to install Cydia. Can anyone help?

So the other day my 12" G4 PB died on me. I reckon it's the DC in board and can't be bothered fixing it so I've managed to lay my hands on a cheap 15" G4 PB.
I'm wondering if I can swap the HD over?
Will it boot up? It's only to get a few pics off it and onto my external drive before I reinstall 10.5.

What? The iPhone 3G was not a "Complete Redesign". Internally, it used the same CPU, RMA and chipset as did the iPhone 1. The only difference was the addition of a 3G radio and a plastic curved back; hardly a "Complete Redesign"
Seriously - people think that an exterior update is more significant that the internals...? The 3GS was serious update over the 3G - faster processor, better camera with video, better BT, faster 3G, better screen, higher capacity, etc.
The 2G > 3G update was the lamest of the bunch so far (especially since a lot of people agree the metal case was a better decision than the plastic)

You can setup AppleShare with a serial cable and install software this way. SHare the CD-ROM drive over the network and install your software onto the Duo over the serial cable via AppleShare with the chooser. This is pretty slow though and you will have to be patient.

Yes, if you are a student eligible for the Student free iPod offer. Did you purchase the eligible Mac on or before 9/24/05? You can just say that you purchased from the Apple Store Online. Be sure that you cut out the UPC code on the Mac and iPod (that is if you have it already.) You must cut out the cardboard of the box along with the UPC label attached.
yup purchased on september 24th I always procrastinate (butchered spelling)

I'm about to purchase the new '11 iMac in the next couple days and had a question about Time Machine. I have all my backups from my '09 iMac on my external harddrive. Will Time Machine move programs like iWorks? I don't want to have to buy the program all over again on the new computer if Time Machine can transfer it. Same for Adobe Photoshop CS5..does Time Machine allow these programs to be transferred? Thanks for any and all help!

Alternatively, you could create a third partition on your laptop and format it as FAT32 or exFAT and keep all of your data on there so both Windows and Mac and read & write the files.
Hmm, FAT32 only allows for 4GB, right? Anyway, can you please tell me how this can be achieved? Links would be appreciated :)
I haven't found anything that works well for Windows. I would recommend that you give MacDrive a try or look a Paragon. Both are well maintained and if there is an issue have tools to help you repair the partition.
I see, but like i said, MacDrive is paid.. So is Paragon.. i need a free version, if you know of any. thanks :D
Side note: Did you know that NTFS Mounter works perfectly for and quietly for writing NTFS from HFS?
Cheers :)

Comex has gotten it jailbroken on the 14th but it still needs a little refining, it is Untethered not tethered as its userland exploit
Wrong way round - it's userland, therefore WILL be tethered. See explanation here:

Hmm, yeah I think I've heard about that before. Thanks. I'll have to look around to see if there's a way to make it work with my mac, or I guess I could just use windows...
If you have an intel Mac then you may be able to use crossover (http://www.codeweavers.com/products/download_trial_macosx/) to get the windows drivers for the XboX controller to work under Mac OS X. I have used it to make the windows drivers for my Logitech Precision Gamepad to work and it is flawless for that purpose.

Imo... i hope you're paying little or nothing for either. The intuos 4 is nice but I actually found that 3 is the most durable. So I would definitely get one of those (I have no.4 myself). If working in PS is your job, why not spend a little on this item?
daamn, you just got me comparing the intous 2 vs. 3 and now i just cant settle with that old crap :) the buttons on each side, are they very useful?
its a leap from 100 to 250$, but from the looks of it i'll get something better?
