Two companies I really don't care for.
Apple makes some sweet hardware (hence I visit this site) but they seriously lack in the software programming and ethical department.
Samsung makes some crappy TVs (I really don't know why they have such a good reputation for TVs, I've got two of them and they look like crap in comparison to my $400 Emerson), not to mention crappy cell phones that are guaranteed to break in a year. (I've gone through three, 1st the slider started to stick, 2nd one the speaker on it broke, and the 3rd one it would double entry the 6 key when I tried to text).
Good for samsung though for trying to strike back for that ridiculous suit Apple did about the Galaxy.

I'm not sure at what price point predatory pricing becomes an issue, but I would think that Amazon may have crossed that line.
Now, it may be possible that Amazon is not offering the same product at $.69 a song. For example I have downloaded a song from Amazon that I paid $.99 for, and was surprised to see it did not have the same sample rate as my iTunes songs.
At some point I can't see the studios nor the artists wanting to take an income-per-song hit without having their say about it. If Amazon is selling music at a loss per song, then the FTC might have a say about that.
you can try that argument but Amazon can just simply point out that it is a hell of a smaller of a player compared to iTMS in that department and is just trying to gain some marketshare.
Remember rules are different for top dogs that it is for the minor ones.
As for sample rate it is around the same point as Apple. It use VBR encoding compared to Apple 160 ACC. End result is they sound the same.
I like Amazons system because it will play in anything that plays MP3s. ACC it is hit or miss if it will work. For example I can play MP3 burned to a data cd in my car . I can not play ACC files burnt to a data cd in my car.

Remember once someone sells you something they can not tell you how you can use it. That like you buying a car and in the purchase agreement they tell you your not allow to wreck the car. Grant it, they do not have to warranty it after you wreck it, but if you want to wreck it, that is up to you.
I hate to break it to you but when you buy software you are agreeing to the software licensing agreement. You must adhere to that agreement or face the loss of the license.
Microsoft is really trying to double dip. I can't blame Microsoft for preventing people from running on multiple virtual machines [someone that has 20 Vista Virtual Machines running on a server should pay for 20 licenses]. Two licenses [one for native and one for Parallels] is not too much to ask.

Really? I took the cue from the post count and not page count. I was under the impression that graphic-heavy threads are closed after about 2000 posts.
Yep...... 2000 posts is typically the cue to start a new thread.
Since it's 5:11am here, I don't have a new purchase to post.:p

Kinda funny one of my lines just had it's eligibility for upgrade moved up nearly 5 months. Late September to next week, May 9th.
Indeed. This is silly--upgrade eligibility is usually (always?) phone-independent. AT&T has in the past waived or shortened upgrade eligibility so that people can immediately buy the new iPhone model. But they aren't going to extend it solely because of the release date of one phone.
More likely the OP (or reporter) dropped a line of service or some services and because his spend went down his upgrade eligibility is no longer "early' and instead is at the usual two years.

LOL... my friend, lets look at this logically. The United States debt surpasses every combined nations of Earth. Our currency is no longer backed by gold, 100% of our income tax pays the interest on our national debt. We transfered our producing companies to other countries. Most people have taken out equity loans on their homes and have maxed out their credit. The middle class will be no more and there is no getting out of our predicament. We are simply not producing enough money to ever get out of debt and with inflation out of control and devaluation of our currency a collapse will happen. In 1929 the good to debt ratio before the collapse was 1:16 as of 2006 it was sitting at 1:60. I have nothing to prove other than I'd cash out now and invest when this happens.
The National debt is meaningless. It is actually going down yearly in relation to GDP.
Do you even have any idea when the last time the US was on the Gold Standard? Can you name any other country whose currency is backed by gold?
If 100% of our income tax pays off the interest on the Debt, how then does the government operate?
Now you are just getting silly. Most people have taken out equity loans and maxed out their credit? Please.
America is still a manufacturing giant. Our exports to China were up 21% last quarter. We are still known for high quality, precision manufacturing few countries can match- with the exception of Germany.
There are more middle class Americans today than in any other point in history.
Why do you think a weak dollar is bad? Sure, there may be some inflation, however, a weak dollar is good for exports and tourism. Take a look at Boeing vs. Airbus, as it relates to the devaluation of the dollar. There's a reason China artificially keeps their currency devalued.
Somehow, I doubt you have a dime invested in the market...

Hmmm, why would an update of Front Row be deemed top secret...
Could this suggest that the mythical iHome might be coming soon? I think you're right and there will be some type of recording available through FrontRow. SJ said, "We hear you loud and clear" on this topic.

My thoughts exactly. Reeks of collusion and I could see lawsuits flying over this.
it is not against the law in any way to give a different deal to someone else. Amazon bring more to the table than Apple and to add to it Apple strong arming has pissed a lot of people off and they want to break Apple strong hold.

This is fantastic - you've captured a mysterious feeling here.
Took my camera out yesterday for the first time in about four months: a bit like getting back in a car when you haven't driven for a while, to find you're thinking about something you used to do automatically...

this is where boris and the clan are plotting how we can all pay for the olympics with parking tickets

I am so jealous. Love some of the places people in the UK shoot at.
Man, some of the people here are jealous of the, uh, "scenery" that you get to shoot.
I know it is rather (ok, very) cliche to post a duck shot ;)
No, it is an honourable tradition here ...

Gain market share for Amazon. Like last year when they sold MP3 albums at a loss.
Apple has proven that market share does not = profitability. I think Apple's focus is right.
I don't see how market share helps Amazon, in this case, if they are losing money on it and have no off-setting profit generated by the loss.
Also, I wonder when this comes into effect. I was just at the Amazon store and most the music I looked at was at $1.29 or $.99 a song - I only saw one $.69 song. Of course, my tastes don't trend toward a lot of pop.

There was a similar story a few months ago about the I am Rich app. Some people thought it was a joke so they bought not realizing it was real.
As for wanting / not wanting kids. I don't know. Part of me would like kids one day. On the other hand, I'm afraid I'd mess them up.

The iPhones kind of look like oreos from those views.
Now you've got me craving...
But seriously, I wonder what the difference is for. There has to be a reason. It looks like the front plate is the thicker one. Maybe for the proximity sensor?

I bought an iMac April 16. If apple releases a new model May 3rd, will they pity recent buyers and allow exchange/return for the new iMac????
Yes. Be nice and say the new iMac fits your needs better.

Something just happened in the stats, we got a big jump and many teams too. Yet I don't think this is the whole catch up as we still miss points as a team and I still miss a big unit...
That was enough to get us to #58 though, just by a hair...
Yes indeed, we just passed club lexus, I'll have to take a look to see if I got my points back.
yeah, but i still haven't gotten my points back yet

Disagree about the LP album being even close to good, but I stated that before:rolleyes:
CD's? That's still just about all I purchase, beside my vinyl collection:D I want a physical copy for everything, and I like to have the artwork, AND get it signed by the artist when I see them live. I also get the ticket and place it behind the CD holder in the case. With my Genelec 1030A's I can tell if it's an MP3 or not:p Now where did the sweet spot between my speakers go again:rolleyes:
And on top of all that, it's your property to do with as you please...forever.:)

15 minutes?
45 Seconds is all it took to get the facts...
Google search: "android market return policy"
First result: http://www.google.com/mobile/android/market-policies.html
For those too lazy to click...
"Returns: You have 24 hours from the time of purchase (not download) to return any applications purchased from Android Market for a full refund of any applicable fees."
Summary: 24 Hours, not 15 minutes.
This is such a great feature that would perhaps stimulate fair pricing and quality paid apps
